Tuscan Fire sets opponents alight

Apr 23, 2012

Jumps racing returned to Ballarat yesterday for the first time in three years, drawing a larger than average crowd who welcomed the spectacle of two incident free hurdle races.

Dan saddled up the favourite in Race 2, Tuscan Fire who was having his second race over the hurdles after an encouraging third on Easter Saturday at Oakbank.

Tuscan found the excitement of travelling and racing in a carnival atmosphere for the first time all a little overwhelming and didn't perform as expected on the day, over-racing early and not jumping like he does at home. But he thrived when returned home, and all the bit wiser for the experience.

Brad McLean and Dan committed to riding him back no matter what this time around with Brad wasting not an inch of ground the entire race.  By the time they hit the home turn it was obvious his jockey was very confident dashing away from the field and winning by a whopping nine lengths.

Again, another exciting day for all involved especially part-owners Cameron Dodd, Elaine & Terry Kenna and Dan O'Sullivan Racing team members Tim Beggs and Damian Hanrahan - all photographed with Tuscan Fire after the race (Damian is hiding!).

This is Tuscan Fire's fourth win this preparation.
