Bahamas Breaks Through

Mar 17, 2015

After two eye catching runs at Ballarat, the beautiful grey filly Bahamas broke her maiden yesterday at Werribee over 1600m.

Bahamas brings much sentiment to Dan, with many of her ownership group involved in some handy horses when he trained in Adelaide.

"It's great to have a horse for these people who raced So Gorgeous, She's Discreet and Oh So Discreet with me when I trained in SA and it would mean a lot to get a winner for them today" Dan said in his pre-race interview.

Managing owner, David Peacock, rang Dan earlier this year to ask if he was interested in taking on Bahamas, as she simply wasn't eating in the stable environment in the city.  Dan, of course, jumped at the chance and now Bahamas is very content in her country environment and routine here at Ballarat.

Bahamas, the daughter of Teofilo and St Trinians, is showing good potential as a staying filly, and we have marked the SA Oaks as a possibility this preparation.

Champion jockey Damien Oliver, who was also aboard in her debut, doesn't usually ride on a Monday so we were very appreciative of his committment and confident ride.

Congratulations to all her owners!
