The Patchie Kid Earns A Rest

Oct 29, 2019

The decision to give The Patchie Kid one extra run, on the back-up, paid off today when he notched up his third career win at Swan Hill over 2100m.

We've mentioned in previous stories, that Dan is adamant this fellow is still growing and maturing, which particularly makes sense with his mixed form.

Dan ummmed and aarghed and then ummmed and arrghed some more whether to spell him after his dull result at Hamilton. But the horse was in such good order and the final field came up very attractive, so it's lucky he made the right call to back him up!

Ridden by our rising star apprentice Will Price, they held a perfect position in the early stages and both horse and jockey were strong and determined to the line.

This promising gelding will now have a spell to enjoy the late spring grass and hopefully his lovely group of owners are having a beverage or two to celebrate!
