Dan and Lucy have ended up having a successful day out, with British Isle taking out the last race at Ballarat.
He’s lovely looking, has a lovely nature and certainly has good ability, but he’s been a real project for Dan and the team. His leg issues are currently under control and he is now a gelding so we went to Echuca first up very confident but he let us down terribly.
He likes a wet track and also trialled very impressively on the synthetic so we took the punt on riding him in the same fashion as our previous winner today (Captain Crackerjak). It was a daring and tactical ride from Lucy who is having a purple patch at present.
“Lucy is a real little horsewoman, she has a nice seat and horses just run for her. Hopefully other trainers and owners take notice and give her the opportunities she deserves” Dan said proudly of his apprentice. “This is a good time of year for her to use her 3kg claim in town”.
Dan is confident British Isle will handle racing up to 1400m & 1600m like his close relative and one of our fave’s – British General.
Congratulations to his fabulous ownership crew, managed by his breeders David and Kathy Brown.
