A frustrating run of minor placings by the stable's horses came to an end at Horsham today.
OUR TIGER LIL, raced by stable stalwart WAYNE PELCHEN and his family, recorded a strong win over 1400 metres, following two good runs back from a spell.
Ridden beautifully by MARK PEGUS, "LIL" jumped well and led for most of the race, before fighting on bravely to score a clear win.
This win by OUR TIGER LIL was an overdue success for the stable, and a great reward for Wayne, as well as for Dan and all the staff.
The victory at Horsham was particularly pleasing, given that so many of our horses have been racing really well – but without luck – in recent weeks.
GOLDEN CALIBRE, GOLDEN CHARMER, RIPLEYS, JUNGLE FIGHTER, TESTA GRIGIA, MADICA'S PLEASURE, TAKE THE FAITH, TUSCAN FIRE, GORILLA'S MIST, INAURA, PRIME REASON, MOOSE – these have all run placings (in some cases multiple placings) prior to today's stable win.
As Dan says – "All we can do is look after the horses as best we can, train them with all the care and attention that our owners expect from us, place them where we think they can win – then hope for that little bit of racing luck that will ensure success."
Let's hope that today's win will be followed by victories by all of our other runners.
