After four consecutive second placings, Jungle Fighter finally won his maiden in a finish as exciting as this year's Melbourne Cup.
With the pace slower than suitable in the early stages, Steven Arnold made the decision to let Jungle Fighter slide forward, and he looked the winner until the dying stages when Eclipse Rouge took the lead, but vigorous riding, the never-give up attitude of Jungle Fighter and a bob of the head saw him back in front when it counted. "The factor of Steve taking the initiative to go forward when the pace was slow was really the winning move today, that's the difference a jockey like him makes on your horse" said Dan.
Jungle Fighter is owned and was bred by Queensland owners, Graham and Desley Wheeler who were in town for his Ballarat run. Hopefully they get to see him win in the flesh soon. He is likely to run on Ballarat Cup Day over 2200m.
