A four day back up was no issue at all for So Belafonte at Terang in the Hygain BM58 Handicap over 2150m, leading all the way and winning in dominant fashion.
This big solid fellow, by Medaglia D’oro is from one of the successful “Discreet” family – Very Discreet. Bred by prominent SA racing identity, David Peacock he started his career in Adelaide with a large group of David’s regular associates, but after two unexciting campaigns the decision was made to retire him.
On a visit to David’s spelling property earlier in the year, he really caught Dan’s eye so the idea was raised to bring him back into work. He is now raced by a small number of the original owners – Daryl Field, Jamie Sullivan and Peter Francis and their families. Because he had such a long time out off the track, he took a bit longer to get into the swing of things, but we finally delivered the reward to his faithful supporters!
A very satisfied Dan remarked “He’s fit and never left an oat after the weekend’s run at Stawell and we have always been keen to lead with him so he can get some momentum. Jack (Hill) riding him again today was obviously a big bonus as his big stride can be a bit hard to judge the first sit”.
A big thanks to Jack Hill for a beautifully judged ride. Jack has being some good work for us of late, so it’s equally satisfying to put him on a winner!
