What a week it's been for the connections of Annie's a Gem. Annie's a Gem carries the colours of the Kolora-Noorat Power Football and Netball teams and after celebrating Grand Final wins for many of their teams on Saturday, the four year old mare carried on the celebrations by winning at Geelong in convincing style. This is the mare's second preparation and after running two second placings recently, it was great to see her win her first race. The Justin Family have had a long road with this mare, raising her from an orphan foal, so I'm sure this win has extra sentiment for them too. Yesterday's race was a heavyweight maiden, with her carrying 66kg's so look for her next time in, when she will most likely appreciate a big drop in weight!
