The "old timer" of the stables, affectionately known as Racer returned to his brilliant best yesterday taking out the Quorra Jewellery 0-72 handicap in good style. The track was a heavy 10, and the pace was fairly slow in the beginning causing him to race a little keen, so the odds of him finishing off the race strongly weren't the best, but fitness and another recent change in routine held out on the day. Dan was feeling very pleased with himself afterwards: "Some horses, especially geldings, as they get older can get a little cunning so you need to change their routine around and more or less keep them guessing. I've tried several things with Racer recently and it's finally paid off!".
Great to see the owners have another win, especially at home for committe members Bob Sandlant and Voi Williams and Rodney and Louise McKinnon who've raced horses with us over the years. Dan will most likely run him next Wednesay at Sandown.
